I have had a few good pairs of go-to headphones over the years. And out of all of them I'd pick the V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition over all those others.
I won't go into the sound quality of the V-Modas because there are plenty of reviews about that. Suffice it to say that I'm very happy with how these headphones sound. Instead I'm going to speak to the three reasons I purchased V-Moda headphones and will buy from them again and again:
- I used a pair of beats that were more expensive than these V-Modas for about a year. I was happy with them. Until one day I was taking them off and opened them just slightly wider than usual. Nothing forceful. Nothing extreme. And one of the headphones broke right off the band. And I know three other people that had the exact same experience. V-Modas simply won't break - as they say on their site, you might have to worry if you accidentally run them over with a tank, but barring that …
- But other things can go wrong with headphones right? In fact with all the electronics packed into the V-Modas what if something happens there? V-Moda has a warranty program that replaces your headphones with no questons asked. You just pay to ship them back. I had this happen with my original pair of V-Modas. I had the non-codex edition originally. And the left channel earphone started to fail. I mailed them in - shipping cost $5.00 to put them in one of those U.S. post bubble envelopes. I live in Wisconsin and had to mail them to California. And I got my headphones back in perfect working order less than one week later.
- And this might be the very best part of the way V-Moda does business: Their "eternal life" program. When V-Moda came out with their V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex Edition I bought a pair for my son who was on his way to his first year of college. They sounded so great that I started thinking that maybe I should upgrade, but justifying a new pair of only slightly better headphones was difficult for me. And that's where V-Moda's eternal life program comes in. I read up on it, submitted a form telling them which headphones I own and found out that, if I mailed them my old headphones, I could get the brand-new headphones for $100. Realize that I'd used my old headphones for two years! So a new pair of $350.00 headphones for $100.00 is a great deal. Of course I ordered them and now I own the V-Moda Crossfade 2 Wireless Codex edition. Both I and my son are extremely happy with these headphones.
